Obedience Champion, Dual and Triple Champion

From July 2006 new obedience and agility rules and awards are in place.

Prior to 1 January, 2000, a Tracking Dog Excellent Award (T.D.X.) and Utility Dog (U.D.) title were required for an Obedience Champion Title (O.C.).  Dogs awarded an Obedience Champion title prior to this date have O.C. following the dog's name.  For dogs awarded O.C. after 1 January 2000, the O.C. will appear before the dog’s name.

From 1 January 2000, new obedience and tracking rules apply and the new title of Tracking Champion (T. Ch.) became available.  From this date, dogs which have gained their U.D. title and then obtain five further U.D. passes of 185 points or more and three first places with a qualifying score under at least two different judges may apply for the prefix Obedience Champion (O.C.).  Tracking titles will no longer be required to obtain an O.C.

Dogs that had already gained the O.C. title were eligible for a Tracking Champion title by passing Track 6.  Their O.C. title is retained as a suffix.  Should dogs wish to qualify for an O.C. under the new rules (5 additional U.D. passes, etc) the suffix shall be dropped and replaced by an O.C. prefix.

From July 2006, an Obedience Champion (O. Ch.) title is available for dogs that have obtained their U.D. title followed by a further five qualifying scores of 185 or better, under at least three different judges.  For a period of 12 months from the introduction of the new rules, dogs that have passes towards their O.C. continue under the former rules.

The title of Dual Champion and Triple Champion is only open to pedigreed, registered dogs who obtain the title of conformation Champion plus one or two other Champion titles.

Restricted Obedience Trials (ROT)

Restricted Obedience Trials (ROT),  trials where entry is restricted to only those of a particular breed, or group.  These trials are usually conducted by specialist breed Clubs for members of their breed only.  The Restricted obedience trials are often conducted in conjunction with other Club functions, such as a show.

Australia's first Hungarian Vizsla Restricted to breed Obedience Trial was conducted in conjunction with the Hungarian Vizsla Club of Victoria's championship Show in March 1994.  The Vizsla Club of New South Wales first Restricted to Breed Obedience Trial was conducted in conjunction with the October show in 1995.   In August 1999 the Vizsla Club of NSW conducted the first Restricted to Gundog Tracking Trial.  Trial Results are listed with the accompanying years show results.
