A six month old puppy of very good
type. Correct proportions, balanced angulation both ends.
Moves in a co-ordinated fashion for one so young. Is correct - true
coming and going. Bone and substance without excess. For such
a young puppy, shows great promise. His coat and colour are correct.
Topline, tailset are what I look for. He has a head which is quite
masculine, without being overdone. Well developed jaw, very good
dentition. All in all, I think this is a youngster very pleasing to
the eye, and with a good future. |

A ten month old pup. He’s a
little taller, slightly rangier. Correct bone and general build is
good. I’d like to see his elbows a little tighter and set in
closer to the body – he’s a little loose in front and on the move he
shows it. He comes in a touch close behind on the move, but he’s
overall a pleasing puppy. I would like to see a little more foreface
on this youngster, but his topline, tailset, ribbing and general
construction are quite good. I think he should make up to quite a
nice dog, but certainly the head properties and general overall
construction and movement of number one sorted this dog into second place
today. |

Thirteen months of age. Size and overall make and shape are good.
He has a pleasant masculine head. He’s a lighter framed dog than the
second place, but he’s more correct for size. His angulations better
balanced and what I liked about this dog is he has good feet and a straight
front from the front. He could do with more angulation both ends, but
he’s balanced, and he moves in a more balanced fashion. He’s
somewhat untidy coming and going – I would like to see better through
movement fore and aft, but side movement is good – he covers ground.
He’s well ribbed back and basically he won this class on some of the finer
points and overall construction. Coat and colour are good.
Dentition complete and correct. If anything, I would like to see
perhaps a tad less in the coupling and perhaps a kilo more condition on. |

This dog is sixteen months of age
and is for me a little tall. He’s also shorter in ribcage than I
would prefer, which tends to give a square outline. This is also
contributed to by the length of leg - he is high on leg, a tall dog.
An excellent aristocratic head, with correct planes – its a very typical
and correct male head. Correct mouth and dentition. His
condition, coat and colour – excellent. His feet let him down
somewhat. His feet are not knuckled up, and this is an aspect of a
utility gundog that I consider important – he’s down on his feet.
I’d like to see a bit more angulation behind and because of that, he
doesn’t move with the reach and drive I’d like to see. He also
stands and moves a little cow-hocked – he would be greatly improved if
that weren’t the case. I love his head... |

An upstanding dog of very good
type, with an excellent head and expression. Very nice flow of neck
into shoulder. Balanced angulation – he is a moderate dog, as I
want in my Vizslas. Good depth of chest. Good spring and
carriage of rib back. Correct topline, tailset and carriage.
He has good feet. He has all the bone I want, without excess and he
moves sound and true – covers ground very well, and is true coming and
going. Coat colour – dark sandy, and he has good eye colour.
Full and correct dentition. From the front, quite straight.
From the back, quite straight, and from the side – balanced. He
moves in a balanced fashion. |

Another nicely balanced dog.
Good angulation fore and aft. Slightly smaller than the dog in first
place, but he happens to be a size I like. He’s a confident dog.
Carries himself well. Not a flashy mover – I think his handler
could probably move him a little faster than she does, but I would rather
they be steady than flashy and fast. I’d like to see him a little
tighter knit in front than he is – his elbows could perhaps be a little
closer. Good strong dogs head again. Excellent mouth and
dentition. Good strong foreface. A balanced head. Nice
neck into shoulders, good topline, correct tailset. Strongly made
without being overdone. Good underline, and again, good feet. |

|
He is a strongly made dog. He
has the best, hard, muscular condition I have judged today. This dog
obviously gets a lot of exercise and a lot of work, and is in beautiful
condition. He is quite solid; he is not a big dog - he’s very
correct for size. Perhaps I could do with his skull being a little
less broad than it is, but I guess his head balances his body. He
has good strong correct feet. Well matched angulation fore and aft.
Tailset perhaps a little high, and he can be a little bit wayward on the
move, particularly out and back. When he settles, he’s good, and
going around he covers ground well. Just the finer points which put
him into third place rather than second or first, but a nice dog
nevertheless. Good coat, pretty well as dark as I’d like to see,
but not too dark. Good eye colour. Again, good mouth, correct
dentition. Solid bone without lumber, but I wouldn’t like to see
him any heavier. |

A five year old dog of very, very
nice breed type. Stands and moves fairly true – I’d like him
perhaps a little less elbowy coming and going. In side gait, he
covers ground well in a very balanced fashion because he has balanced
angulation. Good topline. If I wanted to change anything about
this dog, I would make him a centimetre less tall, and I would just make
his head a little stronger. The body is well constructed and is
balanced. Nice topline, very good underline, no exaggerations.
Excellent feet, correct bone and substance. A good winner of this
class. |

|
This dog to my mind, doesn’t have
quite the balance of the first. He has a deep but rather short
sternum, and tucks up just a little more quickly than I would like.
His hindquarter angulation – this side facing me is good, the other side
is not so well angulated. When he moves, he lifts his front feet a
bit more than he should. He has a pleasant masculine head, and it
suits his body. It fits well into his neck, which flows into nicely
made shoulders, but I prefer the head of first place, in spite of what I
have said. This dog comes second more on movement than on
fundamental construction. |
|

|
This dog is absolutely beautiful on
the stack. His proportions are excellent. He has a good strong
dogs head, without being overdone. Lovely flow of neck into
shoulder. His angulations match. He has a lovely topline,
correct tailset. Correct bone. He’s a very nice dog.
On the move, he’s a bit silly. Doesn’t cover ground the same as
the others. The main reason for his third placing today is
temperament – he wasn’t as stable, and steady as I expect a Vizsla to
be. He is in conformation and appearance a very nice dog, but he
needs to display much better temperament when being examined. |

A dog of moderate size, which I
have to say is my preferred size. Very balanced construction,
balanced angulation fore and aft which gives him his correct movement.
His reach and drive are very fluent and corresponding. He has a
pleasant obviously masculine head and expression, and I am pleased to say,
like all the other dogs today, complete and correct dentition.
Stands fairly straight and true in front. Good feet – nice round
feet. Strong feet, good pads and well knuckled up. Good
topline, correct tailset and carriage. Bone – correct for his
size. Very nice strong crested neck flowing into nice shoulders.
Good topline. A worthy winner of this class. |

|
This is a dog of larger size – to
my eye stretching the upper limit, but he’s a very well made dog.
He is of mature age, but that does not affect him. He’s very
sound, but the movement of first place is better than the movement of this
dog for the simple reason that this dog doesn’t have the same angulation
in the forequarter that he does in the hindquarter and his movement is not
quite as balanced. He is a fine upstanding dog, and he is obviously
very masculine and has a very nice head. Just a little more of him
than I would prefer but obviously a quality dog. |
|
3rd: Hawkins'

Slightly smaller – correct size.
I’d like to see a tighter front and better movement. This dog
doesn’t cover ground as well as the others and he stands and moves a
little cow hocked behind. But apart from that, he has a pleasant
head, good earset, smooth transition of neck into shoulders, correct
topline and underline. He’s well ribbed back.. Good tailset
and carriage. He’s not a bad dog at all, just unlucky to be third
today to the other two. |

Dog Challenge winner is the Open Class winner. He
wins on overall size, balance, movement and what I consider to be type.
There are some very nice typey dogs here, but this dog is, to my eye, the
type I’m looking for. There are no exaggerations – every part
blends with every other part and he’s a very complete mover.
Reserve Challenge is the winner of the Australian Bred Class. This
is a very classy dog. I just simply prefer particularly the movement
both out and back and around of the Challenge winner. This is a very
good Reserve Challenge dog. |

A twelve month old bitch of first
class breed type. Sound overall construction. Size and
substance correct. Pleasant, if slightly strong head for a bitch.
But still obviously a bitch head. Excellent forequarters and feet
– she has very good feet. Round, tightly knuckled, with deep
strong pads. Her balanced angulation allows her to move in a
balanced fashion. I’d like to see her ribbed back perhaps a little
more, but its adequate. Good flow of neck into shoulders, correct
topline. Good tailset and carriage. She stands and moves true. |
|
2nd: Goold's
Hubertus Xtravaganza
|
A more stongly made bitch and I
have to say, she did give her handler a really bad time. She’s
good type, nice bone and construction. I wouldn’t necessarily like
to see too much more for a bitch, particularly at thirteen months, but you
can't mistake her for a dog. Feet not quite as good as first place.
Movement a little wayward. She was definitely throwing away certain
of her chances because of behaviour. Overall construction is quite
good. Not quite so straight in hindquarter from behind – they come
in just a little bit. But she’s a pleasant bitch, overall well
made and I think it would be interesting to see her another day when she
was behaving correctly. |

A lightly made bitch, also thirteen
months. I’d just like to see more of her in every direction.
For thirteen months, she does look more to me like a seven or eight month
old with a lot of growing yet to do. But having said that, she has a
lovely outline. She’s ultra feminine - she would be, being small
and fine but she has a lovely outline. Her movement is a little
wayward but she’s balanced, and balance is very important. She has
a nice neck into shoulder. Like every one so far, correct dentition,
good bite. She stands quite true – I would simply like her to have
more size and substance. |

This is a bitch of the size that is
correct to my eye. Very good breed type, nice proportions, pleasing
outline, very typical, attractive bitch’s head. Nice expression,
good eye colour. Nice flow of neck into shoulders, good topline,
good underline, correct depth of chest. Angulations match.
Stands true in front and correct behind. She tends to move with a
little less reach in front than behind – she could probably do with a
little more length of upper arm, but she’s a quality bitch, easy winner
of this class. |
|
2nd: Quinn's
Ch. Hanafor Tantu Ashka
|
This bitch is carrying perhaps a
little too much condition – a little broad across the beam and somewhat
sluggish on the move. She doesn’t have the balance of the first,
and while she has a perfectly pleasant and acceptable head, it doesn’t
please me quite as much as the head on the bitch won the class. She
is a little wide in front and a little out at elbow, but quite nice type.
Strong hindquarters and she stands true behind. She moves fairly
well, but I would really like to see a little more animation from her.
Perhaps she would if she were carrying a little less condition. |

A very nice bitch of correct size.
Correct proportion, flowing outline. Very pretty and feminine head
– I don’t use the word pretty very often, but she has a pretty and
feminine head, yet with sufficient strength to do the job she’s made
for. She stands true in front. She has round, well knuckled
feet. Her neck flows nicely into the shoulder, which continues to a
correct topline and tailset. Very good tail carriage. She has
balanced angulation, and moves accordingly. I ran this bitch off an
extra time or two with the second place getter, and the big difference is
that this bitch moves more correctly – the second place bitch tends to
overreach a little bit. This is a quality Vizsla bitch, and at two
and a half years of age, she is obviously in her prime. |
|
2nd: Hayden's

Another typey bitch – balanced.
This bitch’s neck maybe doesn’t flow as smoothly into her shoulder as
first place. She’s very attractive on the stack, and she’s good
on the move, but when it comes to the final analysis, she tends to
overreach a bit. She stands true in front. Feminine head, nice
expression, good eye colour. I like the size. I like the
overall make and shape. |
|
3rd: Heemskerk's
Ch. Tanrod Golden Jaffa C.D.X.
|
This is a lighter coloured bitch,
but not too light – in fact its quite a pleasant colour. She is
delightful on the stack. I love this bitch – everything works on
the stack. She stands true in front, she stands true behind.
She has a very nice head. But she is another who is sluggish on the
move. She really doesn’t get into the gaiting thing. She
appears to be built correctly, and I think the difference is inside her
head. Looking at her in profile – lovely head. Neck flows
nicely into shoulders. Good topline – she’s very well made.
She’s balanced, good angulation. She stands true. There’s
everything to like about her, and she could easily have placed much higher
than that, had she been more willing on the move. |

This is a bitch of what I consider
to be classic size, classic proportions, classic outline and classic head.
Soft, intelligent expression. She stands true in front and true
behind. She has lovely flow of neck into shoulder. Good
prosternum – plenty of heart and lung room. She’s well ribbed
back, with a smooth topline, correct underline. Excellent feet.
Correct, matching angulation both ends, well-laid shoulder and long upper
arm She’s very feminine but with enough strength and substance and she
carries herself in a sound, true, balanced fashion. She is a top
quality bitch. |
|
2nd: Pali's
Ch. Hubertus Hearts Onfire
|
A more substantial bitch – as big
as I would like a bitch to be. If she were any bigger, I wouldn’t
have placed her second, but she is of good type. I would like to see
perhaps a little more angulation in front, but overall outline is good.
Good topline. Stands a little wide in front, perhaps toes in a
little, but that’s a minor thing. Good head, eye colour,
expression. Very good hindquarter. Correct tail set and
carriage. She moves well, but not quite in such a balanced fashion
as the winner. |
|
3rd: Blaik's
Ch. Hubertus Misty Morn
|
This is a bitch of good size – in
between size of first and second with a pleasant head, nice length of
neck, good prosternum. Forehand angulation is adequate but she could
do with a little bit more behind. She’s not quite balanced, and
she moves in a less balanced fashion than the others, but she moves
willingly and she’s an outgoing bitch. Topline, tailset and tail
carriage on the move are all quite good. |

Challenge Bitch is the winner of the Open Class.
I’ve already said a deal about this bitch – she is just beautiful, my
kind of Vizsla.
Reserve Challenge Bitch is a larger bitch, just a bit
taller, but of similar type, and of the balance she has the type, outline
and the movement I prefer. She moves in a very balanced fashion –
reach and drive, but no overreaching.
I was moved to comment to the gallery that it was an absolutely
beautiful Bitch Challenge line-up. All four of them were delightful,
quality Vizslas. I was very very happy with the Bitch Challenge
line-up and my Bitch Challenge– I’m very impressed with them. |
