Requirements for an Endurance Test

The Endurance Test is open to dogs between the ages of two and under eight.  Handlers may jog the distance or ride a bicycle.  If at any stage the ambient temperature reaches 24C, the test is cancelled. (Prior to 1 January 2001, dogs could not be over seven years of age.)

Total of 20 km - to be completed within 2 hours and 35 minutes, including the two intermediate breaks but excepting the final rest period (average speed 10kms per hour).  The test shall be carried out over three varying surfaces such as bitumen, unsealed roads, dirt tracks, grass etc.
Veterinary check
Short obedience test in groups of about 4 dogs - performed on or off lead, including recall
8 km run
Rest period - 15 mins, including veterinary check
6 km run
Rest period - 20 mins, including veterinary check
6 km run
Rest period - 15 mins

Upon satisfactory completion, a certificate is issued to each qualifying dog.  Application can then be made for the award of Endurance Test (E.T.).
