To install a pre-formed pond place your new pond on the ground at the selected location.
Mark out the outline of the pond on the ground.
If your pond has different levels dig down to the depth equal to that of the shallowest level.
Mark out the next depth and dig to that. Continue this if there are multiple levels. Of course,
if your pond is of uniform depth you only need to dig to that depth.
Smooth out the sides and bottom of the hole. If there are rocks or tree roots it may be wise to
line the hole with packing sand.
Place the pond in the hole and partially fill it with water after checking that is level. Back
fill around the pond using a hose and some water to bed in the surrounding soil. Pack it tightly
with a board or similar object. Don’t use too much water to back fill around the pond or it
might float out of the hole.
Fill the pond and then let it settle for a few days before completing the surrounds

1. Mark the ground with paint where you want the edge of your water feature to be. Then mark another line about 30cm outside where the water's edge will be.
2. To find out how much pond liner you will need, measure the length and width of the outer marking then add 150cm to each measurement. Have the pond liner cut to the length required. (Fig. 1.)

3. Start digging your pond to the inside marking. Your pond should be at least 60 cm deep.
4. Dig a step from the inside marking to the outside marking about 30 cm deep. (Fig. 2.)

5. Lay the liner in the hole and make pleats to allow it to lie flat.
6. Gently place rocks, soil and plants over the liner on the step to hold the liner down. Be careful not to drop the rocks directly onto the liner. (Fig. 3.)

7. Trim any excess liner which is lying on the ground outside the hole.
8. To get the full life from the liner, you must cover the edge of the liner completely with soil and rocks.
9. Fill your pond. Your pond is now complete. (Fig. 4.)
